Victory Riders Calgary

Meeting Minutes

Sunday, January 26, 2020

18 members and guests were present in our group at the Lighthouse Pub as Drifter Don called the meeting to order. Introductions were made around the table – President Drifter Don, Vice President Tony, Secretary Karen, Ride Captain Woodie, Laura, Ed, Betty, Dusti, Wendy, Bobby, Mike, Kim, Ken, Peter, John B., Victor, George and Wes.

Spring Tune Up

Drifter informed the club that the rent on the Calgary Stampede lot has increased to $150/day + GST.

MOTION: Tony moved that we accept the new fees imposed by the Calgary Stampede. Ed seconded. Carried.

We need 26 riders to recover the fees. We have a commitment from the Blue Knights already. Drifter stressed the importance of what is being taught and practiced that weekend including the safety aspect with a professional trainer. He encouraged everyone who will be joining in the group rides to participate in a training session.

Tony suggested that the IMRG group may wish to reserve their own session with a minimum of 10 riders @ $25 each. Woodie will approach the Calgary Motorcycle Club with the opportunity to have their own session as well (with the minimum 10 riders).

Two Wheel Sunday

As a follow up to our November meeting discussion:

MOTION: Woodie moved that the club book space for two side by side booth sites at a cost of $100. Ken seconded. Carried.

Drifter showed the donation received from Kevin at Cycle Works Foothills of large wooden V I C T O R Y letters. Past President Ronny has donated a Victory Sign to anchor the center of the display which will be used at the club’s display at Two Wheel Sunday.

Tony suggested the display of Victory bikes be showcased by making the display look like a dealership with as many models as possible represented. For the size of the display, 9 bikes could be the maximum. Larry had by now arrived at the meeting and said it was likely that Two Wheel Sunday organizers could put us in a location that our space could be “extended” if required. Members were asked what their preference would be to have on display – stock or customized?

Tony suggested that the bikes on display should be the truest to form of the original model year and after discussion the membership present agreed. Tony will work with Drifter Don to get a process set up to begin to solicit entries for consideration. In a survey of those present in the room, models currently available are: Kingpin, Kingpin Tour, Magnum, Cross Country Tour, Cross Country, V92, Highball, Vision and Boardwalk. Someone mentioned a Victory model tucked away in the NE back corner at Cycle Works Calgary.

Patches and Coins

Drifter Don asked for authorization to purchase more patches – both large and small. It would be best to find a Canadian supplier. Woodie offered to get a local price from Danielle. The order needs to be completed prior to Two Wheel Sunday.

MOTION: Tony moved that the club spend up to $500 total on patches. Larry seconded. Carried.

Woodie mentioned that Danielle also does buttons, key chains and other swag if the club is interested.

Challenge Coins are available for purchase from Drifter Don and James.

Ride Schedule

Drifter circulated the current ride schedule and asked for input and suggestions

Club Fundraising Auction

Club member John has donated a hand-made knife to be auctioned at our next meeting as a club fundraiser.

Other Business

IMRG member Dusti was present and showed a colouring calendar that she has drawn and produced for sale. The cost is $20 with $10 going towards wildlife wildfire rescue in Australia.

The meeting was adjourned at 11:30 am.
