Victory Riders Calgary
February 23, 2020
President DrifterDon called the meeting to order at 10:30 am with 18 members and guests present including new member Dan V from Airdrie.
Spring Tune Up - The Prez passed around a “indication of interest' sign up sheet for the Spring Tune Up motorcycle skills training session and a dozen members present expressed interest. Spring Tune Up is May 23 and 24 this year with six two-hour sessions with a professional motorcycle instructor. Cost is $25 per session. The Tune Up is a great way of knocking off the build up of winter rust on your riding skills, focussing mainly on low speed manoeuvring, balance and riding confidence. The session is also loaded with tips and tricks to keep you safe on the road.
Patches – Samples of the new large back patch and small patch were circulated. The Pres reported that an order had been placed for 10 large and 25 small. They could be available for the March meeting.
Door Prizes – Eight LED flashlights and a $10 gas card courtesy of the friendly folks at Blue Circle Insurance were doled out to lucky door prize number holders. It was noted that $10 worth of gas was a tankfull for the steel frame Victorys and half a tank for the Aluminum frame bikes. Thank you to Blue Circle Insurance for their support of the club. Look for more door prizes at future meetings (they gave us a lot of flashlights.)
Rides & Events – The updated Rides & Events schedule was circulated. It will be posted on the website and Facebook page. Additions are always welcome.
Two Wheel Sunday - We have secured two display sites for Two Wheel Sunday on June 7 and are going ahead with the plan to display as many different Victory models as we can accommodate. Because of our past support of Two Wheel Sunday, the event executive waived the $100 space rental fee. The Prez passed around a list of the 16 Victory base models and asked the members to note which ones they had or knew were available for display.
The belt knife that member John B hand made and donated to the club as a fundraiser was auctioned off. Member Wallie was the high bidder and enriched the club coffers by $200. Through fund raising occasions like this, the club is able to remain dues free. Thank you for both John B and Willie for their support of the club.
There being no further business etc. Adjourned at 11 am.
