May 18 Meeting Minutes

Nine members and visitors in attendance.
Consensus was the swap meet was a success but could have been better attended. More promotion would have helped. The club discussed having a second one near the end of riding season. Drifter to investigate dates that don’t conflict with other major events like the Millarville Swap Meet. Also the club will consider opened it up to anyone who wants to set up a table.
Two Wheel Sunday - June 4.
James is busy organizing the Show & Shine for the June 4 Two Wheel Sunday. He is tracking down last years trophies and needs help with:
· Sourcing prizes for the prize packs that each winner receives. Gift certificates or bike-related items from vendors would be great. Contact James if you can secure some prizes or have a source.
· Volunteer hours. He is looking for club members or supporters who are willing to put in two hours over the course of the day to help with registrations, bike parking, distributing ballots, collecting ballots and tallying ballots.

Kelly will be approached to supply a sounds system and background music again this year. There will be a photographer on site to take pictures of the winners’ bikes.
There are a couple of new events on the ride calendar including the Langdon Bike Night which features a $1 donation from each hamburger sold to the charity of the week. Check the ride calendar on our Facebook site or our website victoryriderscalgary.com.
The Unit 57 Ride on June 24 is looking for half a dozen riders to do traffic control at McMahon Stadium. Anyone who can volunteer should get in touch with Ang.
Spring Tune Up
Past Prez Ronny reported the Spring Tune Up session was an outstanding success. !6 riders took part in the training and practice session with former Sherriff’s bike instructor Jim Perry. Proceeds from the event were donated to the Blue Knights for some of their charity work.
Consensus was that the club should consider holding the event again, perhaps in the autumn. Ronny added that he plans to do some informal, practice sessions too.
One Broken Biker
Glen from One Broken Biker was the guest speaker at the meeting. He have a history of the non-profit organization which raises money to support injured bikers and their families, taking care of expenses not covered by Medicare like transportation, parking, hotels and flights. The group holds a number of fund-raising events each year and has a major ride coming up June 10. It sponsors the Bike Night every Wednesday at Watchman’s Pub on 17th Ave. in Calgary.
James handed out books of raffle tickets in support of Fresh Start Recovery Centre. Victory Riders Calgary Is a support of centre and is selling the tickets for $20 each with the first prize being 2017 Indian Scout Sixty. Second prize is a KTM motorcycle and third is a set of leather jacket and chaps. Books of tickets are available from James for re-selling. Tickets are available from several members. Draw is August 26 and only 2500 tickets are being printed.
Next meeting is June 15, 7 pm, Cycle Works Calgary.
